Gettysburg College occurs as personal little joe-season liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, founded in 1832, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, adjacent to the famous battlefield. Its athletic teams come nicknamed a Bullets. Gettysburg College has an enrollment of slightly all over 2,500 students, a majority of whom came from either a nearby states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, and New York.

Founding and early roots
Gettysburg College was founded inside 1832 as a sister institution for the Lutheran Theological Seminary. Two owe their origin to Thaddeus Stevens, a radical Republican and abolitionist. A college's original title was Pennsylvania College.

Battle of Gettysburg
Within June of 1863, southern Pennsylvania was invaded by Confederate forces during a Gettysburg Campaign. Several local militia forces sprung up as much as a front yard between Chambersburg and Philadelphia to face the oncoming foe.

Among these units was Gettysburg's Twenty-sixth Pennsylvania Emergency Militia Regiment (PEMR). Comprising mostly students from either a College & Seminary, a Twenty-sixth PEMR was mustered into service in June 22, 1863. 4 years late, a students would fight good northwards of town, skirmishing by owning troops of Confederate division commander Jubal A. Early. Neither side sustained heavily casualties, although around 1 hundred of the militiamen were taken captive.

When you took a Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvanithe Hall, or Old Hall, wwhen utilized as two a signal corps station and field hospital. Penn Hall is an interesting anomaly in the battle. Due to the geographic position it held, it was utilized by two Confederate & Union troops during a battle for signal operate & surgery.
